The Jefferson Park Chamber will hold its annual 9/11 memorial ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the war memorial at Milwaukee and Higgins.
The chamber had a general membership meeting the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, and members watched the events on a television at the Gale Street Inn. Members vowed that day to gather each year in memory of the fallen.
The ceremony will include the lowering and raising of the flags by members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 311, the singing of “God Bless America” by chamber member Joan Moody of Moody Plumbing and the playing of “Taps” by member Larry Zimmerman of Nadig Newspapers.
After the ceremony the chamber will hold a general meeting at the Ed Paschke Art Center, 5415 W. Higgins Ave. State Senator John Mulroe (D-10) will be the guest speaker. All are welcome.

The chamber is co-sponsoring with the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association and Copernicus Foundation a Community Garage Sale in the Copernicus Center parking lot on Sunday, Sept. 25.
