On Tuesday, May 23 the Science Club, in conjunction with the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Program, is hosting the annual ResPunzel hair donation program. All hair types are accepted, except dyed, bleached or permed hair. Hair stylists will be available during lunch and seminar to cut 8 or more inches from all students and staff members who are willing to donate. Congratulations Scholarship & Award RecipientsOn Friday, April 21, 2017 the Resurrection community gathered for an all-school Easter Liturgy, celebrated by Bishop Francis Kane. Following the Mass, scholarships were awarded to the students listed below. Congratulations to these students and thank you to our donors!
The Sr. Georgine Marie Faith Witness Scholarship is presented annually by the Religious Studies Department at Resurrection College Prep High School in memory of former Resurrection Campus Minister, Sr. Georgine Marie. Two scholarships were awarded to current junior students who practice faith, leadership and service in the likeness of Sr. Georgine Marie. This year’s scholarship nominees were Isabella Giannoni ’18, Danielle O’Gara ’18, Maribel Pagan ’18, Mary Quinn ’18, and Kellie Rohrer ’18. The first place scholarship was awarded to Kellie Rohrer ’18 and the second place scholarship was awarded to Mary Quinn ’18. Congratulations!
The Presence Resurrection Medical Staff Scholarship, funded through the generosity of the medical staff at Presence Resurrection Medical Center, was awarded to three students who are involved in pursuing a career in health care and actively participate in service clubs or activities connected with health care. This year’s scholarships were presented by Sr. Donna Marie Wolowicki, C.R., to Maria Santamaria ’20, Shannon Shipman ’19 and Melanie Zuniga ’18.
The John P. and Margaret M. Loftus Scholarship is funded through the generosity of the Loftus family to celebrate their parents’ legacy and as a way of thanking them for their commitment to Catholic education. This year’s scholarships were presented to Lauren O’Connor ’18, Jessica Gaynor ’18, Brigid Early ’19 and Bridget Martin ’20.
Resurrection hosted the Anne Bleicher Operation Prom program on April 20, 2017 for junior and senior students to demonstrates the tragic effects of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Students witnessed a simulated fatal car crash in the parking lot at Resurrection, complete with emergency response vehicles, paramedics and student actors playing the roles of injured and emotional teens.Following the crash simulation, students listened to guest speakers, including representatives from the Chicago Fire and Police Departments, a funeral home and emergency medical personnel. Operation Prom has been hosted every two years at Resurrection since 1999. Thank you to Operation Program Director and Resurrection alumna Jennifer Bleicher Matthiesen ’03, to all of the student actors from Resurrection and St. Patrick’s High School, and to all of the emergency responders, speakers and production crew.

Men’s Club Donation
Special thanks to the Resurrection Men’s Club who sponsored the Ladies Day Mass & Brunch on April 9, 2017. The event began with Fr. Britto Berchmans leading the group in Mass and was followed by a wonderful brunch. During the event, Men’s Club officers presented a donation check for $1500 in support of Resurrection College Prep. Thank you to all who participated!
National Honor Society Members Give Back
Resurrection College Prep High School National Honor Society hosted a day of food packing at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville. The event was attended by Resurrection students, staff and families. Volunteers helped pack 213 boxes containing 48,000 meals – enough to feed 126 children for a year! Way to go, Res girls!
Track Ribbon Cutting Celebration
Resurrection College Prep High School celebrated a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new track on Friday, March 31, 2017. Special thanks to all of the students, staff, board members, parents, Sisters of the Resurrection and friends of Resurrection who helped with this celebration. We look forward to many years of use by our students on the new track.
